GEM Book Series
The Institut d’Études Européennes at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (IEE-ULB) is a leading research institution and a Jean Monnet Center of Excellence in European Studies. As such, a core component of its mission is to contribute to the production and dissemination of innovative research and teaching on the European Union. To this end, it acts as coordinating institution of a set of book series dedicated to EU studies. Among these, its so-called GEM Series is published by Routledge and brings together original peer-reviewed publications on: "Globalisation, Europe, and Multilateralism"
Launched in 2013 under the stewardship of professor Mario Teló (ULB & LUISS), the GEM Series has so far already welcomed 9 volumes, thus rapidly established itself both as a reference for researchers as well as a useful graduate teaching tool. Authors having contributed to the series so far include both junior scholars as well as established academic figures - e.g. R. O. Keohane (Princeton), A. Acharya (America University), A. Gamble (Cambridge), C. Lequesne (IEP-Paris), C. Zhimin (Fudan), S. Bava (JNU), V. Schmidt (BU), T. Risse (FUB), L. Fawcette (Oxford).
Each publication included in the series delves into a given dynamic shaping either the global-regional nexus or the role of the EU therein. Accordingly, the resulting international and interdisciplinary publications offer original insights into: globalisation and its associated governance challenges; the changing forms of multilateral cooperation and the role of transnational networks; the impact of new global powers and the corollary multipolar order; the lessons born from comparative regionalism and interregional partnerships; as well as the distinctive instruments the EU mobilises in its foreign policies and external relations.
The GEM Series edited volumes, monographs and textbooks all aim at contributing to further innovation in the fields of European Integration and International Studies. The quality of the included titles is guaranteed by the series double-blind review process as each submission is reviewed both internally as well as by an international referee process. Whereas an International Advisory Board with leading scholars from across all five continents provides the series with further input and guidance. Lastly, the GEM Series is committed to facilitating access to its publications, notably among graduate audiences, by ensuring all published volumes are made available not only as hardbacks but also as both paperbacks and e-books.
